Greenways & Lakes
Weaving through the Abacoa neighborhoods are the Greenways. These areas of preserved, natural Florida eco-systems are enhanced to provide habitat for wildlife. In particular, the endangered Florida Gopher Tortoise makes the Greenways home. The Greenways also provide storm water management for the entire community of Abacoa. Although these are the primary purposes, with trails and overlooks the Greenways also provide people opportunities to enjoy and study natural Florida without leaving their own backyards.
The Greenways are owned and maintained by the Northern Palm Beach County Improvement District. Biologist Sam Payton usually leads walks through the Greenways during the cooler months (September-April). Check the calendar to see when walks are scheduled
Education - Culture - Religion
Beacon Cove Intermediate School-Bessie Dubois Campus and Independence Middle School are both located in Abacoa, with bicycle and pedestrian paths connecting them to all Abacoa neighborhoods. Two existing schools are located adjacent to the Abacoa property - Lighthouse Elementary and Jupiter Middle schools. The closest high schools, W.T. Dwyer High School and Jupiter High School, are situated nearby on Military Trail. All schools are part of the Palm Beach County School District.. In addition there are many private schools in the area.
Two contiguous college campuses are across the street from the stadium and Town Center, placing the benefits of a college-town environment practically at the doorsteps of Abacoa residents. The campuses are home to the Jupiter branch campus of Florida Atlantic University and the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College. The two provide a unique mix - the considerable programmatic and research opportunities of a state university system at the branch campus, coupled with the intimate and in-depth learning environment of the Honors College.
Florida Atlantic University is also home to the LifeLong Learning Society , one of the country’s largest adult education institution, offering the joy of learning without the burden of homework or tests.
Abacoa is proud to be the location of the Hibel Museum, which is located on the FAU campus.

HISTORY OF ADMIRALS COVE
In 1986, Frankel Enterprises purchased the Admirals Cove property from The John D. and Catherine McArthur Foundation. The property at the time of purchase was vacant and undeveloped. The majority of the canals that exist today were dug but extensive maintenance dredging and bulkheading was required.
Development of the property began in the spring of 1986 and the first model homes were completed by the end of that year. The East golf course opened for play in 1987 and the first residents moved in during that winter season.
The Harbor Master building served as a temporary clubhouse until the Main Clubhouse was completed in 1989. The Golf Village course was built in 1991 and the Golf village clubhouse opened in 1993.
In 1999 the management and control of The Club was turned over from the developer to the members in one of the smoothest club transitions in the history of country club communities.
Today there are approximately 900 residents who are proud to call Admiral’s Cove their home.
